Items recovered/DCI
A 27-year-old man suspected of being behind a series of house break-ins in Tabuga and its environs in Nakuru County has been arrested in an intelligence-led operation that recovered suspected stolen property and ammunition.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said on October 13 that officers from Githioro Police Station raided the house of the suspect in Free Area following intelligence reports.
A search of the house uncovered an assortment of items suspected to have been stolen during burglaries reported in the area over the past two months.
The recovered items included two 43-inch television screens, two TV stands, three subwoofers, assorted clothing, bedding and footwear.
Officers also found a pair of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) jungle trousers, a homemade toy gun, one live round and blank ammunition of calibre 7.62×51mm.
According to the DCI, the recovery marks a breakthrough in investigations into the reported break-ins, with most of the items already positively identified by their rightful owners.
Investigators are now working to establish the full extent of the suspect’s alleged criminal activities and determine whether he is linked to other reported cases.
The suspect remains in custody as officers process the case ahead of his arraignment in court.
The arrest comes amid ongoing police operations targeting suspected criminal activity in different parts of the country.
On September 30, police reported the arrest of two suspects linked to a series of violent robberies across Garissa following an intelligence-led security operation in Bulla Sagarey.
The two were apprehended on Tuesday, September 29, by officers based at Garissa Police Station during a coordinated operation aimed at combating crime and enhancing public safety.
"The arrested duo were armed with machetes and are linked to a series of violent robberies across the region," the National Police Service said in a statement.
The suspects were being held at Garissa Police Station as officers completed procedures ahead of their arraignment in court.
The service also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and share information about suspicious activities with the police to support crime prevention efforts.
