Kenyan actress Shirleen Wangari has opened up about her intriguing character Phoebe in the upcoming show CHAMAA, describing her as a woman who struggles to make friends despite carrying plenty of secrets.
Wangari shared the details during an exclusive quickfire with Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi, giving fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the new production.
The actress plays Phoebe, a character she describes as a “walking secret” — someone who wants to make friends but finds it difficult to connect with people.

Phoebe is a ‘walking secret’
According to Wangari, Phoebe is the kind of character who may leave viewers with more questions than answers.
“She is a walking secret,” Wangari said, describing Phoebe as someone who tries to make friends but finds it quite difficult.
The description raises curiosity about what exactly Phoebe is hiding and how her secrets will shape her relationships throughout the show.
Wangari described CHAMAA as an interesting show coming to screens soon. The production will be available to viewers on DStv and GOtv.
Interestingly, although Wangari will be portraying a character navigating the world of CHAMAA, she revealed that she is not part of a chamaa in real life.
Wangari refuses to reveal her age
The actress also showed her playful side during the quickfire.
When asked about her age, Wangari chose not to reveal the number, instead jokingly telling Kalondu, “nione kando.”
She also admitted that she is prone to lies — a playful revelation that becomes even more interesting considering the secretive nature of her CHAMAA character.
While Phoebe may be hiding things on screen, Wangari's quickfire answers showed that the actress herself is also comfortable keeping certain details private.
Away from acting, Wangari revealed that her brother is her best friend and the person she calls and texts the most.

From food to love, Wangari keeps it simple
The actress also shared some lighter details about her life away from the cameras.
Her favourite meal is ugali na mboga za kienyeji, while githeri is among her least favourite foods. When she gets into the kitchen, Wangari says she can prepare smashed potatoes and stew.
When it comes to relationships, her philosophy is equally straightforward.
Her advice to couples is: “Kama mnapendana mnapendana tu, it's not that hard.”
Wangari also revealed that one of the best pieces of advice she has received is to be herself, drawing from the familiar reminder that everybody else is taken.
For now, however, it is Phoebe's secrets that are likely to attract the most attention.
With CHAMAA set to air on DStv and GOtv, viewers will soon get to discover just how much there is to Phoebe — and whether the woman Wangari describes as a “walking secret” will finally let anyone close enough to uncover the truth.
