A requiem Mass for the 17 Catholic pilgrims from St Mathias Mulumba Catholic Parish in Mikindani, Mombasa County, who died in a road accident while travelling to Subukia for the National Prayer Day, will be held today.
The Mass is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am at the parish, where relatives, friends and fellow worshippers will gather to honour the deceased and pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Parish priest Father Patrick Maingi confirmed the arrangements, saying the church would come together to remember the departed parishioners.
The 17 pilgrims died in the early hours of Saturday when the Toyota Hiace van they were travelling in crashed at Mlima Kiu near Salama along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway in Makueni County.
The pilgrims were headed to the National Shrine in Subukia, Nakuru County, for the annual National Prayer Day when the journey ended in tragedy.
