The protesters held placards and sang songs as they called on the government to safeguard forest ecosystems across the country.
Some of the placards read, “Hands off Karura Forest” and “KFS: Forest Protection, Not Destruction.”

The demonstration comes amid growing calls from environmental campaigners for stronger measures to curb deforestation and protect forest land from activities they consider harmful to the environment.

They also urged the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) to strengthen its forest protection mandate and ensure forest resources are safeguarded for future generations.
