Detectives are investigating an incident in which a Form Four student was killed and beheaded at her home in the Kiambaa area of Molo, Nakuru County, in a suspected love triangle-related murder.

The deceased was identified as Joy Wangui, 18.

According to police, a family member had left Wangui at their house while going to a nearby shop.

Upon returning, the relative found her dead inside the house on Sunday, October 4.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found Wangui’s body lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.

The victim had been beheaded.

An axe, a panga and two knives, all reportedly stained with blood, were found near the body.

Police said the deceased’s head was later discovered in the corridor. Investigators also found a message written on the wall using blood and a finger, reading: “I love you, Joy, but never cheat. I am sorry.”

Preliminary investigations established that Wangui was a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School.

Police have since identified the suspect, who allegedly fled the scene immediately after the killing and remains at large.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was removed and taken to Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Police and other security officers launched a search for the suspect, but no arrest had been made by the time of the report. Efforts to trace and arrest him are ongoing.

Such incidents have been common amid efforts to solve them.
