Sifuna has been unveiled as the party's political vehicle during an event in Nairobi on Sunday, October 4, as he moves to consolidate his presidential bid.

“On our end, we have decided to restructure, and in the process, those who registered will stay, and we will bring in our brothers,” Marava said.
Leaders join Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna sa he unveils his new party on October 4, 2026 / ENOS TECHE“Sifuna is going to run for president, and he will be the next leader of the Equitable Party (TEP),” Marava added.
The move gives Sifuna a formal political platform as he seeks to transition the LMM movement into an electoral vehicle ahead of the 2027 polls.
The announcement comes after weeks of political activity around Sifuna's presidential ambitions and efforts to establish a party platform for his campaign. Earlier reports had linked his movement to other possible political vehicles.
Sifuna, who serves as Nairobi senator, has increasingly positioned himself as a presidential contender ahead of the 2027 election.
The unveiling of TEP is expected to provide a formal structure through which his supporters can organise and participate in the electoral process.
The development also marks a new phase for LMM, which has been associated with Sifuna's political mobilisation outside the mainstream party structures.
Among those in attendance are Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, former LSK president Faith Odhiambo, MPs Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Anthony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache South), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), Jack Wamboka (Bumula), and Patrick Simiyu (Cheragany), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), and Clive Ombane Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba), among other leaders.
The launch marks Sifuna's formal entry into a new political platform after his fallout with the Orange Democratic Movement, where he previously served as secretary-general.
The new party comes as political leaders continue to position themselves and their parties ahead of the 2027 general election.
