Concerns over the safety of political aspirants and residents have been raised in Embakasi South as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.
This comes after Embakasi South parliamentary aspirant Jared Oundo said he had reported threats and alleged harassment to police and planned to make a further report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“I have been threatened several times and my life is in danger,” Oundo claimed, adding that he had reported the matter to police.
“Today I will be going to the DCI to report further for action to be taken."
Oundo also claimed that he had been physically confronted and harassed during his political activities.
“There is further evidence where I have been physically attacked and even harassed and intended to embarrass me in public,” the aspirant alleged.
He called on residents and supporters to accompany him to the DCI as he submits what he described as a formal report.
“I request you to accompany me to the DCI as we submit this formal report,” Oundo said.
He said political competition should allow candidates to engage residents freely and participate in political activities without intimidation or violence.
The concerns come as political mobilisation increases in the constituency, with aspirants and their supporters stepping up engagements with residents ahead of the elections.
