The highest fuel prices in the 2025/2026 financial year were recorded in May 2026, when petrol sold at 214 shillings per litre, diesel at 233 shillings and kerosene at 191 shillings. According to a government report, the rise was attributed to the impact of the Middle East conflict on international refined petroleum markets, which increased price volatility and landed costs. The lowest prices were recorded in February and March, with petrol at 178 shillings, diesel at 167 shillings and kerosene at 153 shillings per litre.
