Former Government Spokesperson and Senator Isaac Mwaura has called for the election of the first deaf person to Kenya’s Parliament. Speaking during Deaf Awareness Week, Mwaura said persons living with deafness should position themselves for elective positions in the National Assembly and Senate. He noted that other disability groups are already represented in Parliament, saying there is still a gap in political representation of deaf Kenyans.
