The IEBC says it has trained 100 staff members as sign language champions to improve access to electoral information for persons living with deafness. Commissioner Ann Nderitu says the move is part of efforts to comply with constitutional provisions requiring the promotion and use of sign language and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. She says the Commission will also strengthen the use of Kenyan Sign Language in public forums, media and dissemination of election information.
