Parliament will, from today until Saturday, conduct public hearings on the Tobacco Control Amendment Bill, following petitions from business groups calling for wider regional consultations. The hearings are aimed at gathering views from Kenyans at the grassroots on the proposed legislation, sponsored by Senator Catherine Mumma. The Bill seeks to amend the 2007 Tobacco Control Act by introducing tighter regulations on emerging nicotine products, including vapes, synthetic nicotine and nicotine pouches.
