The proposal to rebrand the Azimio coalition as Ukombozi Alliance is unlikely to make a major difference. Political analyst Javas Bigambo says apart from the name, other factors, including the coalition’s opponents, remain unchanged. He says meaningful change would require a shift in political ideologies and the parties joining the coalition, arguing that the proposal shows coalitions are largely formed as tools for elections.
