The Senate today begins its week-long Mashinani programme in Kilifi County, taking plenary and committee sittings outside Nairobi to bring Parliament closer to the people. The sessions, running from today to Friday, will allow residents to follow Senate proceedings, engage legislators and raise issues affecting their communities. Senate committees will also conduct oversight visits to selected national and county government projects to assess their implementation and engage officials and residents. The programme follows a Senate resolution passed in May to hold sittings in Kilifi.
