Police in Garissa have arrested a man suspected of defrauding an M-Pesa shop attendant in Bulla Hodhan, Garissa town.
According to police, the suspect allegedly posed as a Safaricom agent and approached the attendant while pretending to offer a line upgrade.
Police said the suspect allegedly swapped the attendant’s phone line and transferred funds to another account.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident, according to police.
Officers said a search following the arrest led to the recovery of multiple SIM cards, four mobile phones, two SIM card registration gadgets and four chargers.
The suspect is being processed ahead of arraignment, police said.
