Political analyst Herman None of them should think he can do without the other; they are joined at the hip.
Of course, they will overcome their differences; these are small matters which I know they will overcome.
What is happening are normal things; some of them will be used – some are talking out of ignorance while some have juvenile excitement.
Some are driven by tribal jingoism; it is a whole mix, and that should not be construed as the Linda Mwananchi movement has crumbled.
Babu will soon realise that he can’t do without Sifuna in the city politics and vice versa.
Sifuna will realise the role Babu was playing is huge and that without Babu, that gap will be yawning; it will be a big gap.
There is something about Babu and organisation of rallies – the mobilisation of the masses.
Therefore, it is important the two work together and I think they will work together.
Each of them will have to deal with extremists on their side.
Babu pushing for his own party is too inconsequential; this city is going to be Linda Mwananchi, DCP and to some small extent the broad-based group.
Nairobi is going to be a DCP and Linda Mwananchi, and a small fraction – almost inconsequential – going to broad-based.
Other players will be too minor.
You start up there with DCP and Linda Mwananchi, and then down there we have broad-based.
If Babu starts his own party, it will be lower than broad-based; that will be too inconsequential.
He cannot create a big wave with a new party. Yes, he can ride on that party and get elected as governor of Nairobi.
But he cannot get Members of County Assembly (MCAs) elected on that party. MCAs in Nairobi will be elected either on DCP or Linda Mwananchi.
I don't see the purpose of starting a new party because he cannot get MCAs on that party.
City will be largely a DCP and Linda Mwananchi affair in the coming 2027 elections.
