The Parents Association is calling for the National Parents Association to be transformed into an independent, government-funded corporate body. Chair Silas Obuhatsa says the change should be included in the Basic Education Act 2026, giving the association legal capacity to sue and be sued, as well as employ staff. He also wants Parents Teachers Associations (PTAs) scrapped in schools, arguing that their existence causes confusion, with parents instead represented through the National Parents Association.
