Four of the five preterm babies born to a Juja woman through normal delivery at Thika Level Five Hospital have died at Kenyatta National Hospital. The quintuplets had been transferred to KNH because of extremely low birth weights, ranging between 630 and 800 grams, and the need for specialised newborn intensive care. The mother, Mercy Kanini, remains under care following the rare delivery, one of only a handful of such cases reported in Kenya.
