President William Ruto on Monday continued his four-day development tour of Nyanza with engagements in Kisumu county, where he commissioned the Lake Victoria water and sanitation project.

Ruto also addressed residents in Nyamasaria, where he defended the government's affordable housing programme and said Kisumu had been allocated Sh44 billion for 12,000 housing units, 20 markets and 12,000 hostel beds.

The President said the government would continue implementing development projects in the region, assuring residents that Nyanza would not be left behind.

The Kisumu visit is part of Ruto's wider tour of Nyanza, which includes Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties, with roads, markets, water projects and other public infrastructure among the projects on his itinerary.
