Woman’s body found River Nzeu in Kitui in suspected murder

Police in Kitui County are investigating the susepcted murder of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered along River Nzeu in the Majengo area of Nzambani Sub-County.

The woman was found dead on October 19, 2026, with preliminary observations raising suspicions of possible sexual assault.

Police who visited the scene found the body lying on rocks along the riverbank. The woman was naked, while her torn inner pants were reportedly found about two meters away.

Police noted that there were no visible physical injuries on the body. However, the circumstances in which the woman was found prompted suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted.

The scene was processed and documented by police officers before the body was moved to the Kitui County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

The body is being preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death and determine whether sexual assault occurred.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the deceased and establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

Elsewhere, detectives have launched investigations into a suspected murder after the body of an unidentified man was found at 75 Military Open Field in the Karagita area, Nairobi.

The man, estimated to be about 30 years old, was discovered on October 19, 2026, following a report by a Good Samaritan.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying on its back, with blood oozing from the left side.

A further examination revealed a deep stab wound on the upper left rib area, raising suspicions that the man had been killed.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Kayole documented the scene before the body was moved to Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation.

The body is awaiting identification and a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police are yet to identify the deceased or establish the circumstances surrounding the suspected killing as investigations continue.

And police are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found in the Kanungu area of Kihara Location, Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County.

The body of the man, estimated to be about 45 years old, was discovered on October 19, 2026, after a member of the public reported the incident to police.

Officers from Kihara Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel, visited the scene.

According to a police report, the man was found lying on his back, with no visible physical injuries.

Preliminary information indicated that the deceased had allegedly been living alone in bushes near a river in the area and was reportedly of unsound mind.

CSI personnel processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to City Mortuary for preservation and a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police are yet to identify the deceased as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death continue.
