Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino gave a series of candid responses during a rapid-fire session with Mpasho digital journalist Kalondu Musyimi.
When the reporter asked the 37-year-old lawmaker for relationship advice, he began with a direct prerequisite. He asked the interviewer if she was married. When she replied that she was not, he offered a humorous starting point.
"Get married first," Babu Owino said. "Now you need to get married."
The politician has been married to his wife, Fridah Muthoni Owino, for over a decade. The couple first met as undergraduate students at the University of Nairobi before building their family together alongside his political career.
What Men and Women Need
The MP broke down what he considers essential for a successful partnership. He stated that couples must understand the distinct needs of each partner.
"As a lady, you know that men just need respect. Respect them and submit, the moment you do that and be intentional," he explained
Turning to what men need to provide, he outlined emotional and social effort.
He concluded his advice with a light-hearted note on quality time spent at home. "They need anyway indoor games," he added.
Devotion to Family and Daily Discipline
Away from public politics, the lawmaker maintains that his family remains his top priority. He shared that his wife is his closest companion.
When asked who is his best friend, he responded, “My wife" during the interview. He added that she is also the person he calls and texts most frequently throughout the day.
The politician maintains a strict personal routine. He wakes up at 5:30 a.m. every morning and goes to sleep at midnight. He begins his day with prayer and ends his night with prayer.
