Manchester United vs Manchester City

[Old Trafford, Sunday, 6.30pm]

The 197th Manchester derby arrives with the blue half of the city in ominous form.

Manchester City head to Old Trafford boasting a perfect start to the Premier League season, with Enzo Maresca's side winning all three of their opening fixtures to sit joint-top of the table.

City have blended control with cutting edge, securing victories over Bournemouth 2-1 before dispatching Crystal Palace 4-1 and Coventry 1-0. Their positional rotations have already become a hallmark of Maresca's system, making them one of the league's most dangerous attacking outfits.

Manchester United's opening weeks under Michael Carrick have been far less perfect. A 2-0 defeat to Hull City was followed by a thrilling 5-2 victory over Ipswich and a 2-2 draw with Everton.

However, history offers the Red Devils encouragement. United have often thrived at home in this fixture, previously beating their arch rivals 2-0 in their last Premier League meeting at Old Trafford in January.

Bruno Fernandes has been the creative pulse of Carrick's side with three goals already, but containing Erling Haaland remains the biggest assignment. The Norwegian is supported by the flair of Antoine Semenyo and the imagination of Phil Foden and Ryan Cherki, giving City threats from every angle.

United will fancy their chances on the break, especially against City's aggressive high line, but if their backline loses shape as it has in recent weeks, Haaland and company are unlikely to be forgiving.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-3 Manchester City

Tusker vs Al-Ahli Wad Medani

[Nyayo Stadium, Saturday, 3 pm]

Tusker return to Nyayo Stadium knowing 90 minutes separate them from a place in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after a dramatic 2-2 first-leg draw in Kigali.

The Brewers looked in complete control after storming into a two-goal lead, only for Al-Ahli Wad Medani to produce a remarkable second-half comeback that culminated in a stoppage-time penalty.

That resilience makes the Sudanese side dangerous opponents, but this time they step into a packed Nairobi atmosphere rather than the neutrality of Kigali.

Chasing the tie should force the visitors to open up, a scenario that suits Tusker's pace in transition.

The Brewers hold the advantage thanks to their away goals, but their biggest challenge is psychological as much as tactical. Another lapse in defensive organisation could undo all their good work.

Prediction: Tusker 2-1 Al-Ahli Wad Medani

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton

[Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Saturday 7:30 pm]

Three matches, one point and not a single goal. Tottenham's start to the 2026/27 campaign has been nothing short of alarming.

Defeats to Brentford (3-0) and Newcastle (2-0), followed by a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, have left Spurs hovering near the bottom of the table and desperately searching for a spark in attack.

Everton arrive in north London with considerably more confidence. David Moyes has guided the Toffees through an unbeaten opening spell, collecting five points courtesy of a victory over Crystal Palace (2-0) and draws against Bournemouth (1-1) and Manchester United (2-2).

Everton will no doubt set up a disciplined defensive block with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite before springing forward through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will look to marquee signing Omar Marmoush to finally ignite both his season and the home crowd.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Everton
