Kenya is yet to establish whether suicide cases in the country are going down due to the lack of a national suicide registry. Psychiatrist Linnet Ongeri says suicide data remains scattered despite available estimates, making it hard to measure progress. Kenya had set a target of reducing suicide cases by 10 percent by 2026 under its National Suicide Prevention Strategy but the progress is yet to be confirmed.
