CUSU has accused the government of neglecting public universities through reduced funding. Secretary General Charles Mukwaya says university capitation has been declining since 2014, while institutions rely on students’ fees to pay staff salaries, a situation he terms unsustainable. He adds that the new university funding model will not address the sector’s challenges.
