Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has stepped up her empowerment drive across the county, combining advocacy for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with direct economic support for community-based organizations.

Speaking at Raimu Integrated Primary School during the official handover of a fully equipped dormitory funded through the NG-CDF Board under the Best Practice Demonstration Programme, Maina emphasised that physical barriers must no longer prevent children with disabilities from accessing quality education.

"All children deserve an equal opportunity to access quality education," Maina declared.

"By ensuring our special needs learners have dignified, accessible residential facilities right within their school compound, we are creating an inclusive environment where no child is left behind because of their physical condition."

The lawmaker also extended her development agenda to Gatunguru, where she led the issuance of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAF) cheques to various community-based organizations to boost local socio-economic initiatives and empower vulnerable groups.

During the series of events, Maina cautioned local youths against political exploitation, urging them to prioritize community development and economic growth over divisive politics.

"I urge our youth to reject any attempts by politicians to use them as instruments of violence. Do not allow yourselves to be recruited into political clashes that destroy your future," she stated.

The commissioning and empowerment exercises were attended by key local leaders, including Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango and leader David Mathenge, who both supported the drive toward inclusive education, equitable resource distribution, and peaceful youth engagement in the region.
