‎The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a scheduled maintenance of the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on Sunday, September 6, 2026, during which all services on the platform will be temporarily unavailable.

‎In a notice to all stakeholders, the tax authority said the maintenance will begin at 6am and run until 6pm, lasting 12 hours.

‎“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS from Sunday 6th September, 2026, 6:00 AM to Sunday 6th September, 2026, 6:00PM,” KRA said.

‎The authority said the exercise will affect all users of the customs management system, advising traders, clearing and forwarding agents and other stakeholders who rely on the platform to plan their activities accordingly.

‎“During this period, iCMS will be unavailable,” KRA said in the public notice.

‎The iCMS is a key platform used in Kenya's customs administration and supports various processes involving the clearance and management of imported and exported goods.

‎The temporary shutdown is therefore expected to affect stakeholders who require access to the system to undertake customs-related transactions during the maintenance window.

‎KRA did not provide details on the specific technical upgrades or maintenance activities to be undertaken, but said the scheduled exercise was necessary to maintain the system.

‎The authority urged all affected users to take note of the maintenance period and make the necessary arrangements to avoid disruptions to their operations.

‎The announcement comes as businesses and logistics operators continue to rely heavily on digital systems for customs clearance and other trade-related processes.

‎Any transactions requiring access to iCMS during the 12-hour window will have to wait until the system is restored.

‎KRA apologised to stakeholders for the inconvenience that may arise from the temporary interruption.

‎“We regret any inconvenience caused,” the authority said.

‎The maintenance is scheduled to start early Sunday morning and conclude at 6pm the same day, meaning normal access to iCMS is expected to resume after the exercise is completed.

‎The tax authority also expressed regret over any disruption caused to users by the planned maintenance.

‎The notice comes as KRA continues to digitise and streamline customs processes, with iCMS serving as a central platform in facilitating trade and customs operations.

‎Stakeholders have consequently been advised to factor the scheduled downtime into their plans for Sunday and, where possible, complete time-sensitive customs transactions before the maintenance begins.

‎KRA said the inconvenience caused by the maintenance was “highly regretted” as it works to ensure the system remains functional and reliable for its users.
