As Kenya grapples with a milk supply shortage, Agricultural Extension Officer Hannah Kiarie has linked the decline to the high cost of animal feeds facing dairy farmers. Kiarie says expensive feeds are making it difficult for farmers to maintain adequate livestock nutrition, at a time when dry conditions have reduced pasture availability. She is urging the government to lower feed taxes or introduce subsidies to support farmers and restore milk production.
