President William Ruto has directed KRA to  restore the Sh2.5 million benchmark for general containerised consolidated cargo, reversing the recent increase to Sh3.2 million. Ruto issued the directive yesterday while hosting MSME traders at State House, saying the move would help cushion small businesses from higher import-related costs. He has further ordered KRA to compile a list of high-value items that do not qualify for consolidation and are therefore exempt from the Sh2.5 million cap.
