Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday held talks with British High Commissioner to Kenya Matt Baugh at his official residence in Nairobi, focusing on Kenya’s preparedness for the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo, accompanied by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, said they exchanged views on national and international issues, including the preparedness of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and rising political intolerance.
He stressed the need for a credible and fully prepared IEBC, saying it was indispensable to the legitimacy of Kenya’s democracy.
Kalonzo also called for tolerance of dissent, saying political differences should not be criminalised or interpreted as hostility.
He said Wiper remained committed to non-violence and free, fair and credible elections.
Kalonzo thanked Baugh for his continued engagement with Kenya’s democratic process, saying the country’s international partners, like Kenyans, expect a peaceful and credible path towards the 2027 polls.
