The Ministry of Roads and Infrastructure has been directed to complete the unclogging and desilting of drainage systems in cities and major towns ahead of the forecast El Niño rains. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said clearing open drains would improve water flow and reduce urban flooding risks. He added that the government was finalising mapping of flood-prone areas to guide preparedness, evacuation and response measures during heavy rainfall.
