The government is finalising the mapping of areas vulnerable to flooding and heavy rainfall ahead of the forecast El Niño. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the exercise will guide the prioritisation of preparedness, evacuation and response measures. Priority areas include riverine and low-lying zones, coastal regions, landslide-prone highlands, arid and semi-arid lands, northern Kenya and urban centres vulnerable to flooding.
