Kenyan youth organisations have asked MPs to declare the country’s 13 trillion shillings public debt a national emergency. In a meeting convened by AIDS Healthcare Foundation and civil society groups, youth filed a petition calling for prior parliamentary approval for all national borrowing, statutory budget floors to protect health and education, and an automatic debt-service pause during national crises.
