Victims and survivors of state violence have dismissed President William Ruto’s expression of remorse during Katiba Day, demanding concrete action on killings and enforced disappearances. Speaking at Amnesty International offices in Nairobi, they called for independent investigations and prosecution of those responsible. They said more than 536 cases of extrajudicial and police killings, alongside 111 enforced disappearances and abductions, were documented between December 2024 and December 2025, insisting they need justice, not political sympathy.
