What began as playful social media banter between teacher Cillah and George Ruto took an unexpected turn, with the two finally meeting at Westlands Primary School in Nairobi.
Cillah is a teacher at the school and a popular content creator. 
The online banter began in early August, shortly after Charlene Ruto’s traditional Koito ceremony in Kilgoris on August 8. 
Cillah posted a light-hearted video reacting to the ceremony and joking about wanting to marry George, the son of President William Ruto. 
She spoke about joining the First Family, escaping poverty and 'kutoka block', while encouraging her followers to tag George.
'Kutoka block' is Kenyan Sheng slang meaning the dream or act of escaping the hood; leaving behind poverty and struggle, to achieve financial freedom and success. It was popularised by the Buruklyn Boyz drill song 'Dream Ya Kutoka Kwa Block,' where the chorus says they came with the dream of getting out of the block, 'yaani to get rich.'
“Nyinyi ata hamtaki mtu atoke block, mkiniona kwa comment section ya George Ruto nikisema hi handsome, hi handsome, unataka mwalimu? Just leave me alone, mimi ndio najua mahali tumefikishana na shida...” she said, before breaking into laughter. 
She ended the video with another playful declaration: “Weeeh, teachers are good people, teachers are good people.”
George joined the joke with a response that sent the exchange even further online.
“Ebu TSC number niconfirm kitu,” he wrote. 
Cillah quickly responded, “Hey haansaam, so unataka mwalimu sindio...nakutumia ASAP.”
She then continued the joke through a series of videos imagining what their wedding could look like. 
She posted AI-generated images depicting the two as a couple, referring to them as “Mr and Mrs GK”.
Other videos featured Kalenjin songs, which she jokingly suggested could form part of the wedding programme. 
In one post, she wrote, “Ndio kupanga program”, accompanied by laughing emojis. In another, she told potential wedding suppliers: “All service providers kindly register yourselves...huku hakuna kudelay.”
The series attracted plenty of attention from Kenyans online, who quickly joined in.
"Tutakusupport hadi utoke block,” one person commented. Another joked, “Healing yako utaenda India matibabu at this rate.”
Others declared, “Koito delayed is not koito denied,” while another said, “Nko invested kwa hii series.”
One social media user marvelled at Cillah’s confidence, writing, “Audacity kama hii mnishow nitanunua wapi.”
The exchange eventually moved beyond social media. 
During an interview, George described much of the online interaction as hype but said he had looked into Cillah’s work supporting children, including those with special needs, at the school. 
He then announced plans to visit the school and support it with football and learning equipment, among other items. 
He arrived at Westlands Primary School around August 25 with his Pace Setter Magazine team and the well-known Mood matatu.
George signed the visitors’ book before interacting with school administrators, pupils and staff.The screenshot of where it all started. 
He later entered Cillah’s classroom, where he helped with a multiplication lesson. He also shared a warm embrace with Cillah, who appeared happy and flustered and joked about talking privately.
The visit included photographs, drawings inspired by the Mood matatu and a tree-planting activity, as George interacted with the school community.
In a light moment, George also joked about the relationship status behind the viral banter. “First of all, to set the record straight, niko na bibi,” he said, drawing laughter from the teachers around him.

He noted the positive side of the social media connection, saying it showed how the world had become a global village, and reiterated his support for the school.

“It was good while it lasted,” he added.
