The Public Service Commission (PSC) and Kenya Railways have announced new job opportunities, inviting qualified Kenyans to apply for positions in the public sector.
The PSC has advertised one position for Data Commissioner at the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and four positions for members of the Board of Directors of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The deadline for applications for the Data Commissioner position is September 14, 2026, while applications for the four NG-CDF board positions close on September 8, 2026.
The commission said details of the positions and application procedures are available on its website.
It also clarified that applicants who applied for Vacancy Number 135/2026 do not need to reapply for Vacancy Number 142/2026.
The PSC has warned job seekers to be cautious of fraudsters seeking money while claiming to be commission officials.
“Public Service Commission does not charge any fee for job applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments,” the commission said in its recruitment notice.
Kenya Railways has also opened applications for two managerial positions as it seeks to strengthen its operations.
The corporation is recruiting a Quality Assurance & Risk Coordination Manager and a Signalling, Electrical and Communications Manager. Both positions are re-advertisements, with one vacancy available for each.
Kenya Railways describes itself as a Government-Owned Enterprise established under the Government-Owned Enterprises Act No. 25 of 2025.
Its vision is to be a provider of “world-class rail services”, while its mission is to develop a “safe, reliable, and sustainable integrated rail network”.
The corporation operates Kenya’s railway system, comprising the Meter Gauge Railway from Mombasa to Malaba, with branch lines to Nanyuki and Kisumu, and the Standard Gauge Railway from Mombasa to Naivasha. The SGR is being extended to Kisumu and Malaba, according to the recruitment notice.
Applicants for the Kenya Railways positions are required to submit a signed application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates and a copy of their National Identification Card or passport.
The curriculum vitae should include current and previous employers, positions held, education level, current and expected salary, notice period and at least three professional referees.
The corporation warned applicants that providing incorrect information is an offence and that presenting fake certificates or documents is a criminal offence.
Only shortlisted and successful candidates will be contacted. Shortlisted applicants will also be required to present original identification, academic and professional certificates during interviews.
Kenya Railways said only successful candidates will be required to provide Chapter Six clearance documents, including a valid Certificate of Good Conduct, HELB clearance certificate, KRA Tax Compliance Certificate, current EACC clearance and a current report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau.
The corporation encouraged persons with disabilities, marginalised groups, minorities and female candidates to apply, saying it is committed to fair competition, merit and equal employment opportunities.
Applications for the Kenya Railways positions must be submitted through the job link on the corporation’s website by September 14, 2026, at 5 pm.
The positions are open to Kenyan citizens only. Kenya Railways said hard-copy applications will not be considered and that canvassing or failure to provide the required documents will lead to automatic disqualification.
