A section of leaders from Western Kenya is pushing for a Bill in Parliament to suspend former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s retirement benefits, accusing him of continued political activity. Led by Sirisia MP John Welukhe, the leaders argue that Uhuru should not enjoy benefits reserved for retired presidents while actively participating in politics. They say the proposed legislation will seek to address what they consider a violation of the conditions governing former presidents’ retirement benefits.
