The National Assembly has approved Duncan Ojwang’s nomination as the new Chairperson of IPOA, clearing the final parliamentary hurdle for his appointment to the police oversight body. Ojwang will take over from Justice Ahmed Issack Hassan, who left the IPOA chairmanship after his appointment as a Judge of the Court of Appeal of Kenya. During his vetting, Ojwang pledged to protect the independence of IPOA while maintaining constructive relations with the National Police Service.
