The National Assembly has passed the Sports (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introducing tougher measures against match-fixing and manipulation of sporting competitions. The Bill, sponsored by nominated MP Irene Mayaka, seeks to strengthen sports integrity by criminalising practices that undermine competition credibility and threaten fair athletes’ livelihoods. Those convicted of manipulating competitions will face a fine of up to Sh1 million, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.
