Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Nairobi/FILEThe National Police Service (NPS) has directed Kassim Abdi Sebu to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homa Bay County headquarters as investigations touching on the recent Homa Bay chaos intensify.
NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said Sebu should appear before investigators to answer questions regarding the violence reported during the political tour.
The directive came as the NPS provided an update on arrests made in connection with violence reported in Homa Bay and Kisumu counties around the time of the Linda Mwananchi tour.
“The National Police Service wishes to update the public regarding the arrests that were carried out following the violence witnessed in Homa Bay County on Sunday, 16th August 2026,” Nyaga said in a statement.
In Kisumu, 15 suspects arrested on the eve of the rally while allegedly in possession of various crude weapons were produced in court.
The NPS said the DCI was granted four days to conduct further investigations.
“In Kisumu, all 15 suspects arrested with various crude weapons on the eve of the rally were produced in court. The DCI has been given four clear days to carry out further investigations,” Nyaga said.
In Homa Bay, the NPS said 12 suspects had taken plea and were released on various bond terms.
Two other suspects are being investigated over gun-related incidents and will be presented in court if and when investigators conclude their inquiries and determine that charges are warranted.
“In Homa Bay, 12 suspects took plea and have been placed under various bond terms, while two more are being investigated for gun-related incidents and shall be produced in court upon the finalisation of investigations,” Nyaga said.
Police also identified Oliver Jaoko, alias Olivetti, who has been directed to report to the Regional DCI Headquarters in Kisumu.
The police statement comes amid increased attention on security during political activities following clashes and disruptions reported during the Linda Mwananchi tour.
The NPS said it would continue investigating people suspected of involvement in violence and other offences.
The service also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and support during the investigations.
“We shall remain on this path until all acts of violence and criminality are brought to an end,” Nyaga said.
The NPS warned individuals and groups suspected of involvement in violence that they would face action in accordance with the law.
