Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has announced nine vacancies for specialist medical practitioners as the national referral facility seeks to strengthen its specialised healthcare services.
The hospital is seeking to recruit dynamic, highly motivated, innovative and experienced professionals to fill eight categories of positions across different medical specialities.
The vacancies include one Chief Medical Specialist in Diabetes and Endocrinology, graded KNH3.
At the KNH5 level, the hospital is recruiting Medical Specialists in Neurology, Paediatric Pulmonology, Paediatric Gastroenterology, Pain and Palliative Care, Orthopaedic Surgery-Hand, and Cardiothoracic Surgery, with one position available in each speciality.
KNH is also seeking two Medical Specialists in Plastic Surgery, bringing the total number of vacancies to nine.
The recruitment comes as KNH continues its mandate as a national referral and teaching hospital providing specialised healthcare, medical research and training. The hospital describes its vision as becoming a world-class referral hospital in the provision of innovative and specialised healthcare.
Qualified applicants have been directed to download and complete the application form available on the KNH website and submit it alongside a detailed curriculum vitae indicating their qualifications, experience and current responsibilities.
Applicants are also required to attach copies of their certificates and testimonials, which must be serialised before submission. Applications should reach the Chief Executive Officer, Kenyatta National Hospital, or be delivered to the hospital's Central Registry at the KNH Administration Block.
The deadline for applications is Monday, September 7, 2026.
KNH has stated that it does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process and warned prospective applicants against paying individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment.
The hospital said only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, while any form of canvassing will result in automatic disqualification.
Successful candidates will also be required to demonstrate compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity by submitting the required clearance documents, including certificates from the National Police Service, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Credit Reference Bureau, Higher Education Loans Board and Kenya Revenue Authority.
KNH is Kenya’s largest public referral and teaching hospital, located in Nairobi.
It is a national referral facility that provides specialised and highly specialised medical services to patients referred from hospitals across Kenya and the wider region. It also plays a major role in medical training, research and healthcare innovation.
Located in Upper Hill, Nairobi, it was founded in 1901, has an 1,800-bed capacity, and works closely with the University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences.
