The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced three job vacancies, while Kenyatta University (KU) has advertised seven, with applications closing in late August and early September 2026.
Kenyatta University has advertised seven positions across its Department of Economic Theory, Department of General Surgery, North Coast Beach Hotel in Kilifi and Post Modern Library, while KNEC has announced three vacancies at its headquarters in Nairobi.
KNEC vacancies
KNEC is seeking to recruit one Director of Assessments Administration, one Director of Research, Quality Assurance and Planning and one Deputy Director, Finance and Accounts.
The two director positions are classified under Grade 2, with one vacancy available for each position.
The Deputy Director, Finance and Accounts position is under Grade 3, also with one vacancy.
The council said it would offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities attached to each position.
Applicants for the KNEC positions are required to complete the relevant Employment Form 2A for external applicants or Employment Form 2B for internal applicants.
The completed form should be accompanied by a certified copy of the academic and professional certificates, a detailed curriculum vitae giving information on daytime telephone contact, email address, current remuneration, current copy of the applicant's last payslip and names and telephone contacts of three referees.
Successful applicants will also be required to submit clearances under Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Applications must be submitted on or before September 1, 2026.
The applications should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Kenya National Examinations Council, New Mitihani House, South C, Nairobi, or sent through the council's recruitment channels as specified in the advertisement.
KNEC said only shortlisted candidates would be contacted and warned that canvassing would lead to automatic disqualification.
Kenyatta University vacancies
Kenyatta University has announced seven vacancies in different departments and facilities, with applications closing on August 26, 2026.
The Department of Economic Theory is recruiting a Tutorial Fellow.
The university has also advertised five academic positions in the Department of General Surgery: Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer positions.
The advert lists the positions but does not specify the number of vacancies against each academic rank.
In addition, the university is seeking a Banqueting Supervisor for its North Coast Beach Hotel in Kilifi.
The Post Modern Library has a vacancy for a Senior Library Assistant, Grade C/D.
The university said the positions are subject to its terms of service, which include a basic salary and house allowance.
Applicants for the Kenyatta University positions are required to provide full details of their educational and professional qualifications, work experience, present position and salary, as well as their telephone number and email address.
They are also required to submit copies of their certificates and testimonials and provide the names and addresses of three referees who are conversant with the applicant's competence in the relevant area.
Applications should be addressed directly to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance), Kenyatta University, P.O. Box 43844–00100, Nairobi.
The university has cautioned that applications and letters of reference must be received no later than August 26, 2026.
Kenyatta University also stated that it is an equal opportunity employer and encouraged women and persons with disabilities to apply.
The institution warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
