Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.Police in Muthambi, Tharaka Nithi county, are investigating the death of a 47-year-old man whose decomposing body was found under a tree in a farm.
The body of Douglas Keraite was discovered at Kanyakine Village on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after a village elder spotted it lying under a tree in a shamba belonging to a local resident.
Police visited the scene and secured the area before Crime Scene Investigation officers photographed and documented the scene.
Relatives later identified the body as that of Keraite.
The body had started decomposing and was moved to Chuka Level 5 Hospital mortuary for preservation pending further investigations and a postmortem examination.

In a separate incident, police in Imenti East, Meru county, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a middle-aged man whose body was found in his farm with severe injuries.
The body of Charles Mutwiri was discovered on Wednesday, August 12, in Maganjo Village, Kiamwitari Sublocation, within Thuura Location.
Members of the public alerted police after discovering the lifeless body in the farm.
Police who visited the scene found Mutwiri lying in a pool of blood. According to police, the deceased had severe injuries, including a deep cut on the neck.
His right ear was also missing, while both his upper and lower lips had allegedly been cut off.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mutwiri may have been killed about three days before his body was discovered.
DCI officers processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of Mutwiri's death, the motive for the suspected killing and identify those responsible.
The two incidents are being investigated separately, with police expected to rely on postmortem findings and other evidence gathered from the scenes to establish what happened to the two men.
