The United Democratic Alliance meeting/HANDOUTThe United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has postponed its grassroots elections in Tana River County by five days, moving the exercise from Saturday, August 15, to Thursday, August 20.
The party's National Elections Board (NEB) said voting will take place from 8 am to 5 pm.
In a notice dated August 12, NEB chairman Anthony Mwaura said the decision followed consultations with leaders and stakeholders in Tana River County.
"Following a consultative meeting held with leaders and stakeholders from Tana River County, the National Elections Board hereby notifies all party members and prospective aspirants that the grassroots election in Tana River County, previously scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, has been rescheduled to Thursday, August 20, 2026," Mwaura said.
The board urged party members, prospective aspirants and other stakeholders to take note of the revised date and make the necessary preparations.
The postponement comes as UDA continues its phased grassroots elections across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The party has been conducting the elections in phases across several counties this year.
Grassroots elections are internal party polls through which political parties elect officials to organise and represent members at the local level, helping strengthen party structures ahead of national elections.
