Silas Cheboi/COURTESYThe Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the death of Silas Cheboi, its Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement.
In a statement, EPRA mourned Cheboi as a dedicated public servant whose work made a significant contribution to the authority’s regulatory mandate through surveillance and enforcement.
The authority described his death as a profound loss to EPRA, his colleagues and all who had the privilege of working with him during his career.
Cheboi, EPRA said, will be remembered for his professionalism, integrity and commitment to duty.
“His passing is a profound loss to the Authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him,” EPRA said.
The authority said Cheboi served with dedication and remained steadfast in carrying out his responsibilities.
His role in surveillance and enforcement placed him at the centre of EPRA’s efforts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing Kenya’s energy and petroleum sector.
EPRA said his contribution to the authority would be remembered by colleagues and others who interacted with him in the course of his duties.
The authority extended its condolences to Cheboi’s family, friends, colleagues and all those mourning his death.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who mourn his loss,” EPRA said.
His work in surveillance and enforcement supported the authority’s mandate to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while protecting the interests of consumers and other stakeholders.
EPRA said Cheboi’s professionalism and commitment to public service left a lasting impression on those who worked with him.
He is set to be laid to rest at his Solian home in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, on August 15, 2026.
The authority joined his family, friends and colleagues in mourning, saying his memory would live on among those who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
“He will be remembered for his dedicated service, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the mandate of EPRA,” the authority said.
