President William Ruto is today expected to launch a national conversation on Kenya’s long-term development agenda beyond the expiry of Vision 2030.
The initiative, dubbed Beyond Vision 2030, seeks to lay the foundation for an ambitious long-term blueprint that will shape the country’s development priorities beyond 2030.
The proposed framework will focus on key areas considered critical to Kenya’s economic and social transformation.
These include economic transformation and prosperity, industrialisation and value addition, jobs, skills and youth empowerment, and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The agenda will also prioritise world-class infrastructure, quality education and human capital, accessible and affordable healthcare, food security and climate resilience.
Other pillars include national wealth and strategic investment, as well as strong institutions and good governance.
The national conversation is expected to provide a platform for Kenyans and other stakeholders to contribute to discussions on the country’s priorities after Vision 2030.
The launch comes as Kenya approaches the final years of the Vision 2030 development framework, which has guided the country’s long-term economic and social planning since its inception.
Police reforms and new standing orders
The Ministry of Interior and National Administration will hold a sensitisation forum for National Police Service formation and unit commanders on the new Standing Orders and ongoing police reforms.
The forum, scheduled for 11 am at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA), comes as the government moves to restructure police units and implement reforms within the service.
The new Standing Orders are expected to provide guidance on restructuring various police formations and units, with commanders to be taken through the changes.
The session will offer insight into how the new structure will affect police operations, command and service delivery, as well as the broader direction of police reforms.
CoG to launch model county youth in agribusiness strategy
The Council of Governors, in partnership with stakeholders, will today launch the Model County Youth in Agribusiness Strategy, an initiative aimed at strengthening youth participation in the agricultural sector.
The strategy will be unveiled by Council of Governors Agriculture Committee Chair and Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, alongside AGRA President Alice Ruhweza and other key stakeholders.
The launch will take place at Weston Hotel from 8:30am.
The strategy is expected to provide a framework for counties to support young people in agribusiness and create opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
The event comes amid growing calls for greater investment in agriculture as a source of employment and income for Kenya’s young population.
