Labour Cabinet Secretary and Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) founder Alfred Mutua will lead a nationwide mobilisation tour as the party moves to strengthen its grassroots structures and prepare for the 2027 General Election.
The party’s National Governing Council (NGC) also resolved to support President William Ruto’s re-election bid, alongside plans to field candidates for other elective positions.
The party said Mutua’s tour would focus on engaging members, strengthening party structures and mobilising Kenyans ahead of the election.
“Hon. Alfred Mutua will embark on a nationwide tour to engage members, strengthen Party structures and mobilise Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election,” the party said in a statement.
The tour is part of a new political strategy adopted by the NGC on Wednesday as the party seeks to expand its membership and increase its presence across the country.
The party resolved to immediately commence a nationwide membership recruitment campaign, targeting new supporters while rebuilding its grassroots structures ahead of the elections.
The mobilisation drive will also seek to reconnect the party with former members who left to join other political formations.
MCC has invited former members to return and help rebuild the party, giving them until September 15, 2026, to rejoin.
The NGC also reaffirmed its support for Ruto’s bid for a second term, with the outfit set to campaign for him in the 2027 presidential election.
“The Party will wholeheartedly support and campaign for President William Ruto in the 2027 Presidential Election,” the party said.
At the same time, the party will field candidates for other elective positions, including MCAs, MPs, Woman Representatives, Senators and governors.
The arrangement will allow MCC to field its own candidates in parliamentary and county contests while backing Ruto at the presidential level.
“The Party will field candidates for all elective positions including MCA, MP, Woman Representative, Senator and Governor while leaving the Presidency to its support for President William Ruto,” it said.
The latest resolutions come as political formations intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with grassroots mobilisation and membership recruitment emerging as key priorities.
Mutua’s nationwide tour is expected to take the party leadership to different parts of the country as it seeks to consolidate its support base and position its candidates for the next election.
The party also adopted a new political slogan, replacing “Inawezekana” with “Mbele Iko Sawa.”
The new slogan is expected to feature prominently in the party’s mobilisation and public engagement activities as it seeks to strengthen its political identity.
The NGC said the party was ready for a new chapter focused on expanding its membership, strengthening its structures and preparing for the 2027 contest.
“Maendeleo Chap Chap is ready for the next chapter stronger, broader and focused on the future,” the party said.
Mutua’s tour is expected to set the tone for the party’s grassroots campaign as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
