Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has officially launched a new political party, the People’s Renaissance Movement (PM), as he seeks to position the outfit as a key player in the 2027 general election.
Amisi, who spoke during the launch onTuesday, said the outfit will champion economic liberation, justice and a renaissance for Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He said the party would seek to mobilise Kenyans around an economic agenda while positioning itself to form the next government.
“We, the people of Kenya, hereby launch the People’s Renaissance Movement to deliver the country from economic liberation, economic renaissance and economic justice, and to form a government of the people, by the people, for the people,” Amisi said.
He urged Kenyans, particularly the younger generation, to take up the responsibility of fighting for what he termed the fourth liberation, economic empowerment.
“This fourth liberation is a duty of our generation. The past three generations rose and did what needed to be done. We are now being called as a generation to rise with enthusiasm, charisma, courage and patriotism to do what needs to be done today,” he said.
“What needs to be done is economic renaissance."
Amisi’s formation of the new party comes months after his removal from the ODM National Executive Committee, marking a fresh chapter in his political career.
The party's membership recruitment head, Samuel Mwenyekenye, said the party had established a presence across all 47 counties and was steadily expanding its membership base.
Mwenyekenye said the party had so far registered more than 5,000 members across 26 counties, with plans to intensify recruitment ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party also unveiled its interim National Executive Committee (NEC) officials during its National Delegates Convention held in Nairobi.
Anthony Buluma was appointed Secretary-General, deputised by Emmanuel Serabai, while Teddy Mwambire will serve as National Chairman and Paul Mitungi as his deputy.
Jean Njoroge was named Organising Secretary, with Dafold Livanze as deputy.
Sebastian Odanga will serve as National Treasurer, deputised by Margaret Sisi.
The party’s women and youth wings will be headed by Patricia Kagendo and Sophie Mugure, respectively, while Ambrose Kiplagat will serve as the national chairperson representing persons with disabilities.
Other officials include Maliun Farah, Director of Campaigns, and Brian Onyango, Secretary for Legal Affairs.
The new outfit now faces the task of translating its economic renaissance message into a nationwide political movement as parties position themselves for the 2027 contest.
Several leaders, including Zimbabwean MP Richard Tsvangirayi, were present during the event.
