Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo was visibly excited after President William Ruto personally drove him to a helipad at his Kilgoris home.
Chivayo was at the farm for a high-profile traditional engagement ceremony for his daughter Charlene Ruto.
He captured the moment on video as Ruto drove him, expressing his amazement at being driven by the Kenyan President.
“I am being driven by the President of Kenya,” Chivayo said excitedly.
“Being driven by the President of the Republic. Ah no no. God is the greatest,” he added.
Ruto could be heard laughing as Chivayo recorded the light moment inside the vehicle.
Chivayo was in Kenya over the weekend to attend Charlene's traditional Koito ak Chaik engagement and farewell ceremony at the Ruto family's Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
The ceremony marked an important step towards Charlene's marriage to Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaiah Yunke and brought together members of the two families, senior political figures, friends and other prominent guests.
Among the high-profile guests reported to have attended were Cabinet Secretaries y Aden Duale (Health), Eric Mugaa (Water), Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior) and Geoffrey Ruku (Public Service).
The Koito ceremony is an important stage in the Kalenjin marriage process, bringing together the families of the bride and groom for traditional rites, exchanges and blessings ahead of marriage.
Chivayo later expressed his gratitude for being part of the high-profile ceremony, describing his attendance as an “absolute honour and privilege”.
The Zimbabwean businessman shared images from the event on social media showing him and his wife alongside Charlene, Yunke, President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
Chivayo also praised Ruto, describing him as a “leader par excellence” while commending his administration's efforts in economic development, infrastructure, housing and agriculture.
His latest encounter with Ruto adds to a series of meetings between the Zimbabwean businessman and the Kenyan President.
Chivayo has repeatedly met Ruto at State House and has publicly spoken warmly about his interactions with the President. His frequent access to Ruto has attracted attention in Kenyan media, with some outlets referring to him as the President's “new Zimbabwean BFF”.
The Kilgoris encounter, however, offered a more informal glimpse of their relationship, with Ruto taking the wheel as Chivayo recorded the journey to the helipad.
Chivayo is the founder of Intratrek Zimbabwe, a company involved in renewable energy projects, including solar and hydroelectric power developments.
