Several courts across the country will handle corruption, economic crime and public asset recovery cases this week, with proceedings scheduled from Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14, 2026.
The cases include hearings, rulings and mentions involving current and former public officials, with some proceedings centred on alleged embezzlement of millions of shillings, fraudulent acquisition of public property, conflict of interest and abuse of office.
At the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Gideon Kioko Sonko and 25 others will face a hearing on August 10 and 13 in a conflict of interest case involving allegations of embezzling Sh24.1 million from the Nairobi City County Government.
The former governor is accused of colluding with directors of private limited companies in the alleged embezzlement of the funds.
Also at Milimani on August 10, the court will mention a case involving former Director General of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics Antony Kyalo Kilele and another person.
The two are charged with wilful failure to comply with applicable laws relating to the procurement of public services. The allegations concern the fraudulent award of a storage contract and authorisation of payment to B.M. Logistics (EA) Ltd, described in the case as a non-existent company.
The court will also hear a case involving Mzalendo Kibunjia and seven others from August 10 to 13.
The suit seeks the recovery of Sh441.4 million allegedly embezzled at the National Museums of Kenya through salaries paid to people who were not employed by the institution.
On August 11, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court will deliver a ruling in a case involving Michael Chesikaw over a suit seeking recovery of Sh7.5 million allegedly illegally paid to him as a grant by the National AIDS Control Council.
The court will also hear a case involving former Chief Officer for Education in West Pokot County Simon Kachapin, and three others on August 11.
They are charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
The allegations relate to the alleged embezzlement of Sh296.5 million through irregular withdrawals from the West Pokot County Bursary, Education Development and Infrastructure Fund bank account by county government officials between February 2018 and December 2021.
Several other cases will come up for mention during the week.
On August 11, former Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Benjamin Obuya Njoga and 12 others will have their case mentioned at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court.
They face charges of abuse of office, fraudulent acquisition of public property or revenue and money laundering.
The allegations involve the fraudulent acquisition of public property worth Sh301.9 million through payments for goods allegedly not supplied to the State Department for Correctional Services.
At the Makadara Law Courts, Johnson Jackson Githaka and John Faustin Kinyua will have their case mentioned on August 11.
They are charged with fraudulent acquisition of public property over allegations of abuse of office resulting in the illegal acquisition of public property worth Sh12.1 million.
Meanwhile, the Environment and Land Court in Nanyuki will hear a case involving Simon Ngunyi and seven others on August 12.
The suit seeks recovery of public land identified as Laikipia Nanyuki West Timau/Block 2/290–1040/1041/1042/1043.
The cases form part of the corruption and public asset recovery matters listed for proceedings between August 10 and 14, 2026.
