A 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death during a disagreement with his brother in Shivakala Sub-location, Shirere Location, Kakamega county.
Police said the incident involved Ibhrahim Lutta, 24, who was allegedly attacked by his 32-year-old brother.
Police visited the scene and found Ibhrahim’s lifeless body lying on its back, with a visible stab wound to the chest.
A blood-stained knife suspected to have been used in the killing was recovered at the scene.The suspect was arrested by members of the public and handed over to police.
The scene was processed and documented before the deceased’s body was moved to the Kakamega County General and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending autopsy.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal dispute between the two brothers.
The assailant was expected in court on Monday, August 10, police said.
In a different incident, detectives in Migori county arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the death of Opiyo Mbusiro, who died three days after allegedly being assaulted.
The suspect was arrested on Friday at Namba area following a tip-off from members of the public.
According to police, several witnesses had mentioned the suspect as the person who allegedly assaulted Mbusiro on July 26.The victim later died on July 29.
A postmortem examination conducted on August 4 established that Mbusiro died from a severe head injury caused by a blunt object.
The suspect is being held in police custody as detectives continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the assault and subsequent death.
Elsewhere, a 42-year-old man died while undergoing treatment at Mwala Level 4 Hospital following an alleged assault at a bar in Nzeveni Market, Machakos county.
The deceased, Amos Makau Maingi, reportedly sustained injuries on August 3 after he allegedly fell onto a table while intoxicated, breaking several glasses.
According to police, the bar attendant allegedly
assaulted Maingi after he caused the damage.
Maingi was taken to Mwala Level 4 Hospital on August 4 for treatment but died while undergoing treatment.
The incident was reported to police on Friday.
Police have classified the incident as suspected murder and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Maingi’s body was transferred to the Machakos Mortuary, where it was preserved pending autopsy.
Meanwhile, police in Embu County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered along the banks of River Cevi in Ngeniari Village, Embu East Subcounty.According to police, the incident was reported on Thursday.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased was an unknown male adult believed to be about 40 years old.
The body was found lying beside River Cevi with the head partially submerged in the water.
Investigators observed an injury at the back of the head, while the man’s left ear had been cut and one tooth was missing, suggesting he may have been assaulted before his death.
Crime scene personnel from the DCI processed the scene before the body was removed to Runyenjes Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding his death and those responsible. No arrests had been made by Thursday evening.
