President William Ruto chairs cabinet meeting/PCSPresident William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made a series of appointments and reappointments to State boards and institutions.
The appointments were published in gazette notices dated August 7, 2026.
They cover institutions in wildlife conservation, agriculture, transport, roads, water, trade and higher education.
Among the changes, Ruto named Benson Gichohi Ngure as the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO).
Gichohi is set to serve a three-year term.
He also reappointed Lucy W. Waruingi as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 (2) (a) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint— LUCY W. WARUINGI as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th August, 2026," the notice further reads.
In the cabinet docket, Transport CS Davis Chirchir reappointed Anna Robai Makawa, Dominic Kipkoech Koskei and Annastacia Mumbua Musyimi as members of the Board of Directors of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority.
The three will serve for another three years.
Chirchir also appointed Mohamed Rashid Abdille as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority for a three-year term.
Meanwhile, in the water sector, Patrick Musili Mbangula will continue serving as the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Water Institute Board for another three years, following his reappointment by CS Eric Murithi Mugaa.
The CS, according to the notice, also reappointed Mwololo Benjamin Kyalo as a member of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority for a three-year term.
The changes extended to the wildlife sector, where Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano reappointed George Fredrick Mosiori, Mark Rotich and Jane Naini Meriwas as members of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund.
The three will serve for three years.
Miano also appointed Robert Nyanjui Wainaina as a member of the same board for a three-year term.
In the trade sector, Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui appointed Aaron Nanok as chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency for three years from August 7.
The government also made changes to the National Lottery Board, with Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services Hanna Wendot Cheptumo appointing Caroline Jerobon Rotich as a member for three years.
The appointment revoked that of Teresia Jerusah Michael.
Several changes were also announced in the education sector.
Professor Ezra Maritim will continue serving as chairperson of the Council of the Open University of Kenya for another three years.
He will be joined by Lawrence Muchilwa, Dr Susan Kiragu and Dr McOkwiri Kevin Juma, who will serve as council members.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba also named five members to the Council of Nyandarua University College.
They are Mumbi Kahindu, Christine Jepyegon Ronoh, Job Wafula Chelongo, Kariuki Peter Maru and Julius G. Obare Mokogi.
At Laikipia University, Fatuma Abdi will join the university council for a three-year term, replacing the previous designation contained in Gazette Notice No. 11252 of 2026, which has been revoked.
Ogamba also added Dr David Gikungu to the Council of Meru University of Science and Technology, where he will serve for three years.
Elsewhere, the changes extended to the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin Development Authority, where East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development CS Beatrice Askul Moe retained Joseph Lorunyei Kuwam as a board member.
Unlike most of the other terms, Kuwam’s tenure will run for one year from August 7, 2026.
